In the name of social welfare



At a meeting of the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis, the leaders of the factions of political parties voiced the positions of their factions on the draft Constitutional Law “On the Constitution of the Republic of Uzbekistan”.

It was noted that the norms provided for in the updated Constitution are consonant with the program objectives of each political party and correspond to the interests of the electorate.

“The statement in the updated Basic Law of the constitutional principle “Uzbekistan – a social state” and a significant increase in the norms related to the obligations of the state in the social sphere deserves attention”, Ulugbek Inoyatov, head of the faction of the People’s Democratic Party of Uzbekistan said. – The project puts forward the idea of social solidarity, which is the guarantor of well-being and development. In particular, several norms provide for the reduction of poverty, ensuring employment, protection against unemployment, preventing the determination of the amount of pensions, benefits and other types of social assistance below the minimum consumer spending.

The state is responsible for improving the quality of life of socially needy categories of the population, creating conditions for the full participation of persons with disabilities in the life of the state and society. It also defines the right of citizens to receive free medical care guaranteed by law.

The leaders of other party factions delivered speeches at the meeting. They called on deputies to support the draft of the updated Constitution.
