Uzbekistan extends ban on flights

Uzbekistan, in order to prevent the penetration of a new strain of coronavirus into the country, has decided to extend the restrictions on air traffic with eight countries until March 1 this year, the press service of the ministry of health of the country reported on January 30.

The ban concerns the flights to and from the United Kingdom, Italy, Germany, Denmark, Austria, Australia, the Netherlands and South Africa.

The restrictions were first introduced on December 21 and were in effect until February 1.

Citizens of and people permanently residing in the eight countries, as well as other foreigners who have been to these countries within the last 14 days, are not allowed to enter Uzbekistan during the period of flight restrictions, the commission said.

Uzbek citizens and stateless persons who have been to these countries in the last 14 days and arrive from a third country will be put in mandatory self-isolation for 14 days in designated facilities or hotels, it said.
