Tashkent International Film Festival ′′ Pearl of Silk Road ′′ will be revived
The National Agency ′′ Uzbekkino ", as part of the Uzbek National Cinema Week, held an international conference dedicated to the revival of the Tashkent International Film Festival ′′ Pearl of the Silk Road ".
In an event with the participation of a number of foreign experts, international festivals organizers and film critics, most of the attendants supported the existence of this festival and expressed a willingness to assist in many issues.
Director of the International Federation of Film Producer Associations (FIAPF) Benoit Zhenisti indicated that the name of the festival was well chosen:
- The initiative of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan to revive the Tashkent International Film Festival came to benefit. Not all leaders pay such attention to the art of cinema and support the organization of festivals. The very name of the festival gives it unique originality. ′′ The Pearl of Silk Road ′′ will cover in many countries. In the Central Asia region, in my opinion, the main attention should be given to young people, because the film production of this region has remained out of sight of Europeans. The festival will also be valuable because it will introduce the general audience to films we didn't know about. Separately, it should be mentioned that he will restore the bridge between generations, which was destroyed 30 years ago. The revival of the Tashkent Film Festival at the initiative of the head of Uzbekistan is a kind of heroic act.
Secretary General of the International Federation of Film Critics (FIPRESCI) Klaus Adar recalls that he personally participated in the Tashkent International Festival of Asia, Africa and Latin America, which took place in 1970-1980:
- At that time they were encouraged at a good film festival. If they start having it again, it can take a luxury place among other festivals in the world. I propose to broadcast during the festival a retrospective of Uzbek classical films that are viewed with love all over the world. Also, special attention should be given in the program to young directors.
Deputy Ambassador exceptional and beautiful-power of Japan in Uzbekistan, Soda Etsushi, announced that experts from Japan must be invited to the Pearl Silk Road Festival.
- The initiative of the President of Uzbekistan to hold the festival made me very happy. I think this might be the basis of cinema development. We are ready to support this project. Japan will participate in the festival as the most eastern country.
Iranian film critic and director Ali Rizzo Shukhruhi turned attention to the fact that the new festival could win international fame:
- The festival will be a new rise and a change in the field of cinema. It is necessary to organize it at the professional level. We, international experts, will definitely support the organizers. Now the world festivals have been suspended. Tashkent International Film Festival will fill this niche.
Gulbra Tolomoshua, the Kyrgyz cinema critic and the program director of the young cinema forum ′′ Omut ′′ of the Commonwealth countries, expressed her hope that the ′′ Pearl of the Silk Road ′′ festival will help films from the Central Asia region to appear on the world screens:
This news made me very happy as the organizer of several festivals in Central Asia. The more festivals the better. We see them as an opportunity to get to know the world with the cinema of Central Asian countries and are ready to assist in anything.
The head of the culture and tourism department of the Turkish embassy in our country, Alperslan Akinzhi, invited the creators of Uzbekistan to the Uzbek-Turkish Film Forum to exchange experience and make connections with representatives of the Turkish film industry.
At the conference, foreign and local film experts discussed the festival topics, new programs and projects. Suggestions and recommendations for the festival have been heard.
The event was attended by the founder of the Chingiz Aitmatov Foundation in Germany, film expert Svetlana Slapka, Estonian film producer Arthur Weber, head of the Asia and Eastern Europe Film Department UNIFRANCE, film critic Joel Shafron, professor Bristol University Birgitte Boimers.
The Uzbek side was represented by the CEO of the National Agency ′′ Uzbekino ′′ Firdabs Abdokhlikov, Doctor of Arts Nigora Karimova, Head of the Republic Film Foundation Aljun Abasov, Film Producer, Playwright Anwar Irgashev, Director Kamara Kamolova.
- First of all, I would like to express my gratitude to the event participants for supporting the new international festival. The conference was held at a high level. It should be mentioned that the organization of the festival will be carried out at the initiative of our head of state The fact that the Tashkent International Film Festival will take place among the world film festivals is a good news for Uzbek film workers, because this is how the international community will learn about their work. Recommendations and suggestions for the new film festival are very important to us. The experts loved the name of the festival, who found it very successful and exactly defines the format of the event. Some of our experts believe that the new organized festival will be a great positive momentum in promoting the image of Uzbekistan on the world stage. The suggestions of some experts to develop a special program for young creators match the name of the year, announced by the President of the country as the year of support for the young generation and strengthening public health.
In this spirit of taking advantage of opportunities, together with the international film community and experts with the aim of supporting young filmmakers based on their suggestions and recommendations, we planned to implement a number of successful projects - said Firdabs Abdokhlikov.
At the event, stormy discussions took place, during which they talked about the editing of the festival program, the date of the festival, setting creative days, giving artistic and especially interesting films, organization of conference in the framework of the festival. As a result, it was suggested that the Tashkent International Film Festival ′′ The Pearl of the Silk Road ′′ will take place at the end of September this year
