On May 9, marking the 80th anniversary of the Victory over Fascism, the Embassy of Uzbekistan in Israel participated in a wreath-laying ceremony at the Victory Monument in Netanya, alongside the embassies of Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, and Russia.
Uzbekistan’s contribution was immense: out of 6.55 million citizens, nearly 1.95 million — every third Uzbekistani — fought on the frontlines.
Additionally, Uzbekistan sheltered 1.5 million evacuees, including hundreds of thousands of Jews, sharing homes, care, and even the last piece of bread — a true embodiment of profound humanism.
